Interested in reaching out? Here are some frequently asked questions. If you have further questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

  • What are your pronouns?

    I prefer they/them pronouns.

  • How would you describe your social location?

I am a white, neurodivergent, queer, middle-aged, non-binary woman. It’s a mouthful if you’re not used it, but it feels great to be able to identify myself in ways that feel comfortable as a whole. Thank you for asking!

  • What is your current availability?

You can see my availability for the next six months here.

  • Where can I hear you preach?

I keep an up to date list of upcoming preaching engagements here. The page is password protected. If you’d like the password, please contact me.

  • Are you available for virtual services?

Yes! I am available to speak to your congregation both in-person and virtually, whatever works best for your congregation.

  • What are your rates?

My rates are in line with the Unitarian Universalist Minister Association’s scale of fees for professional services (including travel) which can be found here.

  • How long are you available on a Sunday?

I can be available up to 45 minutes before the service starts. If no time is specified I will aim to be there 30 minutes beforehand. I am also available for up to 30 minutes after the service ends. If your service includes a talkback, please let me know ahead of time and let me know if the 30 minutes post-service does not work.

  • What can you preach about?

Depending on how far in advance we connect, I am typically more than happy to work within your congregation’s planned theme during the period I will be visiting. If you don’t have a theme planned, then I can develop something new that meets your needs. It is always helpful to know what other topics are being approached close to the date I’ll be visiting so that I can make sure I’m not bringing any redundancy. In short, I want to make sure I’m bringing a message that will be engaging and valuable to your church. You can see examples of my sermons here.

  • How will you prepare?

Most congregations I work with ask for little collaboration ahead of the service, which is just fine. I always love to have an understanding of how your church worships, so if am I able to find recordings of previous services at your church I will view some of those to get a feel for your congregation’s style of worship. I am happy to meet with a member of your leadership or worship team for 30 minutes as a planning session. If you’d like to meet any more than that, it would be considered a service billed at an hourly rate.

  • Are you able to travel?

I am open to travel outside of my region when my schedule permits. All fees for travel and lodging would be covered by the host congregation. Typically when travelling I would come to you on Saturday afternoon and leave soon after the service on Sunday. I require at least 4 weeks advance scheduling if air travel is required.

  • You're scheduled to speak at our congregation. Do you have a bio you'd like us to use?

If you're looking for a short bio for me, you can use the below:

"Rachel Rogers is an aspirant to Unitarian Universalist ministry living in Nashville, Tennessee where they are currently serving as president of the board of directors for First UU Nashville. Rachel is also a seminarian at Meadville Lombard Theological School and enjoys preaching regularly at congregations in the Southeast where they are blessed to do the collaborative work of meaning making and co-imagining a more just and love-filled future."

  • Do you offer pastoral care services or rites of passage?

Not at this time, as I have not yet received that training as part of my seminary studies.
