The Unimaginable

September 6, 2020
With Rev. Diane Dowgiert in a webstreamed service for The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville. How do we forgive each other when our beloveds make choices that we do not understand? How do we imagine possibilities that could lead others to do things we see as unsafe? In this reflection, starting at 29:30, I discuss my experience in navigating the infinite complexities of holding each other in love during the pandemic.

Authentically Out Together

Oct 13, 2019.
A Celebration of National Coming Out Day. My reflection/sermon begins around 37:30. This service was developed alongside the Rev. Gail Seavey at FUUN.

Looking Inward, Looking Outward

April 14, 2019
With Rev. Gail Seavey at The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville; Eastern Orthodoxy and Liberation Theologies offer a variety of ideas about salvation, both personal and political, that can expand our own thinking about the life-giving possibilities of our interdependence with all that is. My reflection begins around 33:45.

What Keeps Us From Seeing

June 30, 2024
Delivered at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville.

In our day-to-day life, it is easy to keep ourselves sequestered from the inequities that permeate our communities and shape our lives. What steps can we take to get outside of our bubble, and how can the choice to do so change our lives? In this service we’ll explore the simple changes in our routine that can start changing our perspective and how in doing so, we can create real alchemy for change.

Another World Is Possible

April 16, 2023
Delivered at the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville, this service centered on the practice of creating and enjoying speculative fiction as a prophetic spiritual practice and how we can use our imaginations not just as a tool for joy but also as a means of moving towards a more just and love-filled future.

The Space Between

December 19, 2021.
I developed this worship service for the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville. In it we explore those liminal spaces between the “not knowing” and “knowing,” honoring the knowledge that we can’t (and maybe shouldn’t) know everything at once.

Radical Resilience

July 30, 2017
All of our lives present us with periods of intense change and difficult loss. These experiences offer us the opportunity to experience personal metamorphosis and to take stock of the strengths and resources we already possess. I was the worship leader for this service at The First Unitarian Universalist Church of Nashville and delivered the sermon.

Begin Again… Again

March 27, 2022
At the Unitarian Universalist Church of Huntsville:
Our fourth principle calls us to an individual search for truth and meaning. Our faith journeys are lifelong and the personal spiritual practices we develop serve as stepping stones and building blocks along that path. In this service, we’ll explore the miracle of those daily (even hourly!) opportunities to renew our faith that is experienced as we dedicate ourselves to spiritual practice. We will celebrate the direct experiences with the divine that may start as small moments, but swell into larger turning points and personal groundswells of faith.
